The search functionality is location based and works best when using the postcode, town, village or street address of the station you are looking for. The station returned by the search will be the nearest station to the geographic location you have searched for. Station names can be used in the ‘search bar’ but, where ambiguous location names exist, the larger geographic location will be used; showing the nearest station to the search location. Using the word ‘station’ e.g. Clapham north station often improves results where there is an ambiguous name.
All stations that are policed by British Transport Police can be found in the A – Z list of stations, clicking on a station will bring up the crime maps and data for the selected station.
Station markers are shown on the map to highlight the different stations and types of stations (National Rail, Metro, Subway and Tram) and allow for easy navigation by clicking from one station to another.
The website is updated on or around the 13th of each month. This update will map incidents reported to the police in the preceding month. For example, an incident of crime or anti-social behaviour reported to the police on 20th October will be reported on the website on or around the 13th November.
The purpose of this site is to show where crime is occurring at a local level on the rail network.
Crime statistics need to be viewed in context. For instance, busy stations will inevitably generate more reported crime than those that are less busy. Long term trends are usually a better indication of the true picture.
